Drum magic in Cincinnati

An artist whose name is virtually synonymous with outstanding drumming is on the way to Cincinnati.

Kofi Baker’s Psychedelic Trip will appear at the Ludlow Garage, where they are expected to tear the roof off the venue. Kofi is the son of Ginger Baker, the legendary drummer for the equally legendary band Cream, with Eric Clapton on guitar and Jack Bruce on bass. Although Cream was together only from 1966 to 1968, they were one of the most influential bands in rock.

Kofi appears to have inherited his father’s talent for the drums, and indeed appeared with his father playing drum duets in the 1980s throughout Europe. Later, Kofi toured with other artists including John Ethridge and moved to the United States in 1994 living in Colorado with his father.

In 2015, Kofi was part of The Extreme Guitar Tour, along with Vinnie Moore of UFO; Vinny Appice, who had played with such stars as Black Sabbath and John Lennon; and Uli Jon Roth, who was lead guitarist for the Scorpions.

Since 2017, Kofi has been playing The Music of Cream, and today, Kofi and his group play the classic 1960s and 1970s cuts from outfits like Blind Faith, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, and of course Cream. The show is a tribute to straight-ahead rock.

Kofi Baker’s Psychedelic Trip will be at the Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati on July 9, at 8:30 pm. Poster printing is frequently used to announce events like this.
