Cincinnati stands in for Compton

Cincinnati is impersonating Compton, California, in the new film ‘Girl from the Hood’.

Residents of the Hyde Park neighborhood discovered production trucks parked along Erie Avenue as the company got ready to shoot the Lifetime movie. Many residents who were enjoying their morning walks stopped to see what was happening. Some even walked extra distances to satisfy their curiosity.

Andi Simon, a neighborhood resident, was on a walk with her friend Holly Hartke, and they had their daughters with them. Despite pushing the youngsters in strollers, Simon told WLWT.com that they had made extra loops to check out the set. Hartke said their usual 45-minute walk lasted a lot longer than usual.

In the film, Hyde Park is impersonating Compton in the 1990s. The crew was working in two homes on Erie Avenue that resemble houses in Southern California. Many period cars were also on the set.

The film is the story of Michel'le, an R&B artist, and her relationships with two of the biggest stars of hip-hop – Dr. Dre and Suge Knight. Fans caught a glimpse of two of the film's start, Rhyon Nicole Brown, (playing Michel'le) and R. Marcos Taylor (Suge Knight).

Companies like these can work with flyer printing companies to create materials explaining when and where they might have to block off streets, or otherwise disrupt daily activities in an area.
