Valley Stream student to attend special law classes

Solomon Akaeze, a senior from Valley Stream Central High School, has been selected to participate in the High School Law Institute of Columbia Law School for the fall semester.

Local Print shops can often assist in announcing such honors throughout a school and its community with Posters, Banners, and other printed materials.

This means that on Saturdays through the semester, Akaeze will learn the basics of law from students at the law school of this Ivy League institution. In addition to learning about the basics of constitutional and criminal law, students will benefit from the program helping them to refine their public speaking skills, sharpen their legal reasoning and logical thinking, and efforts to build their confidence.

Akaeze developed an interest in the law after he became involved in helping people in disadvantaged communities. He felt that law was one way to reach his goal. He said that becoming a criminal defense lawyer can help those who may not know the rules and regulations of the system. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in this program and is looking forward to its outcomes.

Samantha Cipriano, Akaeze’s guidance counselor, said that he is active in the school and in the community. She added that he has been committed to seeking positive change for those who are disadvantaged.
