Valley Stream pet pantry looks for holiday donations

The annual holiday donation drive is being held by Paw It Forward pet pantry in Valley Stream.

The charity was founded five years ago by Daniella Scala-Nathan who runs from home and relies on volunteers to help her with the charity. The pantry is designed to help pet owners who may be going through some difficult times and provide needed supplies and pet food.

Scala-Nathan admits she has faced challenges running it over the past years but has found that the volunteers have connected her with many local business owners who have helped support the charity.

Paw It Forward has set up drop Boxes at several small businesses in the area, including Central Veterinary Associates and Pet Supplies Plus in Valley Stream, Baldwin Harbor Animal Hospital, the Fido Fitness Club in Woodmere, and Mutts and Butts in Merrick.

Supplies needed include cat litter, cat food, dry and canned dog food, treats for dogs and cats, food and bedding for rabbits, cages, beds, blankets, towels, and string toys for dogs. These can also be left off at Gregoris Subaru and TGIF, Valley Stream; Prime Entertainment and Ridgewood Savings Bank, Bellmore; and South Shore Subaru, Lindenhurst.

Poster printing can be used throughout an area so that people are aware of local needs and know where to go to drop off supplies.
