Festival to celebrate Irish culture

The 18th annual Irish Experience Festival is taking place next month in nearby Hempstead. A portion of all funds raised will be donated to the Hofstra University Scholarship Fund.

The festival takes place during Irish-American Heritage Month. It is set to highlight the culture with displays, arts and crafts, vendors of Irish-related items, and Irish food for purchase. There will be musical performances by The Black Velvet Band and the McLean Avenue Band, and dance displays by the Hirten Family Dancers.

For the children, there will be lots of fun activities including face painting and glitter tattoos. There will also be performances by performers such as Katie's Puppets and Harry the Magician

This is one of three festivals held at Hofstra University throughout the year. They all attract visitors from all over Long Island, including nearby Valley Stream, and no doubt this one will be no different. Postcard printing firms may be asked to help advertise by providing products that can be inexpensively mailed out to people in the community.

The Irish Experience Festival will be held at Hofstra University's Mack Physical Education Center on March 6 from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for senior,s and free for children aged 12 and younger. To find out more about the festival, and about the day's activities, contact the University at 516-463-6582.
