Bagel lovers assemble for national competition

The Annual National Bagel Eating Contest will be held this February in Valley Stream.

Bagel-eating contestants will get to spend a fun-filled afternoon creating Bagel Art before participating for a $500 prize. The event will be held live at the Bagel Boss locations in Hewlett and Hicksville, and is sponsored by Bagel Boss, the National Bagel Association, and the Bagel of the Month Club.

Last year’s Bagel Eating Contest was held in neighboring Huntington, New York. Different flavor samples were also available at the Bagel Expo event.

The winner of the 2016 event was Keith Tuzzolino, 33, from Dix Hills in Long Island. Tuzzolino won the title of Bagel Boss National Bagel Eating Champion and a $500 prize after eating five entire bagels in just five minutes. Event attendees in publicity photos from last year’s event are also wearing T-Shirts showing the Logo Design of the event itself. Bagel Art and Bagel Games were provided for kids who had attended.

The Second Annual National Bagel Eating Contest will be held on February 12, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Locations can be seen on the Eventbrite site, and competitors should be sure to choose the appropriate location, as the tickets will not be transferred from one site to the other, according to the website.
