Afterschool program to be held in Valley Stream

The Valley Stream Community Center will be hosting an Arts and Crafts Afterschool Program for children between the ages of 4 and 13 years old.

Local Print shops can be of great help to such centers in promoting such special programs.

This will be a six-week program during which time children will learn skills in basic painting, basic drawing, and creative self-expression and abstract design, as well as being encouraged to speak to others in public about their work. An experienced and certified instructor will be leading the program.

Classes will be split inro two age groups—one for those between four and eight years old and the other for those between nine and thirteen years old.

The Valley Stream Community Center is within Hendrickson Park, along the lake surrounded by paths lined with trees and scenic landscaping. The center is within walking distance from the miniature golf course, the Arthur J. Hendrickson pool, and various sports courts. It has four appointed rooms that are distinctly decorated. Two rooms have expansive views of the lake and there are two outdoor areas.

The afterschool program will be on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 pm from February 7 through March 14. The cost is $150 per child with a $35 material fee due to be paid to the instructor on the first day of class.
