Rockville Centre activity to protect local ecosystems

An upcoming Rockville Centre project will serve the local community by lending a hand with keeping invasive species well under control.

Sierra Club and ReWild are seeking assistance for a day of invasive species removal, and it will also install some native plants at the location as well. The volunteers will be working at Tanglewood Preserve, and RSVPs are currently being accepted.

Participants will be tasked with removing an assortment of invasive species, and they will receive instructions so they can easily identify them. Oriental bittersweet, porcelain berry and the climbing multiflora rose are on the list to go, and the venue’s native plant garden will also be getting some attention. Everyone can bring along a sack lunch to enjoy together, and an optional tour of an area water treatment facility will be offered by a representative of Sierra Club. Everyone should wear clothing for the task at hand, and jeans are recommended.

Invasive species may be a real problem in wild spaces, and an environmental service project may help to keep them at bay. A flyer printing company can supply a variety of budget-friendly options for its customers to choose from.

Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers, Tanglewood Preserve will be getting some TLC on November 4th. Anyone who would like to register can do so through the Adelphi website.
