Rockville Centre goes green with curb trees

Rockville Centre residents who would like to help make their hometown a bit greener are encouraged to check out a local program.

The community has invited its residents who have enough space on to order a curb strip tree from the species list prepared for the occasion. There are five available, and they all tend to perform well in local growing conditions.

This year, the trees available include two cultivars of maple, as well as little leaf linden, Japanese lilac, and Sargent cherry. Households that request one may choose to have it installed by village staff or can plant it on their own if they prefer. The price starts at $270 per tree, and tips have been provided so that they will have the best chance at a long and healthy life.

Many people have become more interested in environmental ideas, and participating in a city or town tree planting program can be a simple way to play a part. A flyer printing company can offer various ways to get the word out to as many as possible while still keeping a budget on track.

The village of Rockville Centre will be accepting orders for its curb strip Tree Program until Sunday, September 5. Its Facebook listing offers more information, as well as a description of the species available.
