Rochester event to provide insight into poverty
Poverty is an issue in many communities, and a Rochester simulation will seek to find solutions by providing those who participate with a chance to learn more through a hands-on event.
Stakeholders, including policymakers, businesses, health and human services professionals, community leaders, and anyone else who is interested is welcome to get involved. Those who do will be given an opportunity to learn more about the challenges faced by people who live in poverty, as well as the systemic barriers that can exist in the area.
The goal of the initiative is to provide firsthand experience in what a low-income family faces each month as its members try to make ends meet. The session runs for three hours, and includes a 30-minute session where the participants will discuss what they have learned. While the event is free of charge, the organizers have asked that anyone who is interested register well ahead of time, as they expect that it will fill up quickly. Brochure printing services can be utilized to provide educational materials to distribute during this type of community-based social awareness building exercise.
This simulation, which will seek to address poverty in the local area, has been organized for the evening of May 22nd. It will be held at 1050 East Avenue, and more information can be obtained by visiting the ACT Rochester website.
