Veteran businesses to receive special assistance

The Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of Iona College in New Rochelle has been selected by the Institute for Veteran & Military Families (IVMF) of Syracuse University as part of its Community Navigator Pilot Program.

This $5m program is funded by the United States Small Business Administration. Now that it is part of this program, the Hynes Institute will receive free one-on-one technical support for small businesses owned by veterans. This will enable such businesses and veteran entrepreneurs to turn to the college for support, training, and extra guidance.

The college will be holding sessions in New Rochelle to provide technical assistance, assess the needs of local small business owners and veteran entrepreneurs, and refer them to business advisors and free services as needed. This provides an opportunity for local Print shops to create materials that attendees can take away with them with more information about such resources and services.

Veterans at any stage of their business or process in their entrepreneurial ventures can attend these sessions. This means that those who are not sure of what next steps to take, as well as those who have an established business and need advice regarding financial or legal issues, can attend. The Community Navigator Pilot network also provides free services such as risk management, corporate and federal contracting, loan assistance, and accounting and taxation.
