Unusual art exhibit comes to New Rochelle

A new exhibit, Art à la Carte!, sponsored by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, will be opening in the Rotunda Gallery at City Hall with a special reception.

There will be a variety of artistic styles in the exhibit, ranging from colorful collages using found objects and everyday articles, to playful ceramic teapots and vibrant oils of larger-than-life crustaceans. This year-end exhibit includes pieces from artists in Mount Vernon, Pelham, New Rochelle, White Plains, Mamaroneck, and the Bronx.

Members of the Board of the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, clarinetist Enid Blount Press, and accordionist Sy Kushner, will perform the musical entertainment at the reception. Jolo’s Restaurant will provide the refreshments.

The New Rochelle City Council created the Council on the Arts in 1975 to encourage the study and presentation of both the fine and performing arts. Over the past 40 years, with funds from the City of New Rochelle, the Westchester County Government, and memberships, it has sponsored dance recitals, theatrical productions, concert series, and lectures, and created a festival to build better relationships between the business community and the arts.

The reception will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm tomorrow, December 8 and the exhibit will run through January 29, 2016. Those interested in attending the reception and visiting the exhibition should read the informational Brochures that the Council prepared for details.
