Special film screening and talk-back at New Rochelle public library

The New Rochelle Public Library will be presenting a film screening and discussion on criminal justice later this month.

This will be the inaugural film of the series ‘IDEA New Rochelle Presents: 3rd Thursdays’. The film to be viewed this month is Nothing Happened, an independent short film written by and starring writer, educator and actor Tony Parent. Various Print shops can be hired to create Flyers and other materials that be distributed throughout the community so that such unique and interesting films and events can be publicized.

The film describes a man’s arrest and its effect on his life and relationships in the year following. There are both reflective and comic aspects of the film and focuses on those events that are less shocking in life today.

After the film, there will be a panel discussion about criminal justice reform and a talk-back session with Parent and the audience. On the panel will be Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Prison and Justice Writing Program Manager at PEN, Caits Meissner; host of Decarcerated Podcast and TED Resident, Soros Justice Fellow, Marlon Peterson; and Parent. Bayeté Ross Smith, Creative Director of IDEA New Rochelle, will be the moderator.

The screening and discussion will take place in the Ossie Davis Theater on Thursday, January 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
