Dr. Muhammad Qayyum has become the first faculty member for Iona University’s new Mario J. Gabelli Endowed Professorship in Finance.

Qayyum has been an associate professor of finance at Iona for the past five years. His expertise is in financial education, corporate social responsibility portfolio management, global risk, and real estate. He is also a prolific academic researcher. Among the Journals where his work has been published include “Economic Education Research,” “Journal of Education for Business,” and “Journal of Financial Research.”
He said that this endowment will facilitate his research activity as every paper which he publishes raises the profile of the university in the world of financial scholarship. Qayyum added that this professorship will enable him to continue to work closely with students while pursuing his research as he includes them in his research so they can use their classroom experience in the real world.
Qayyum is the founding faculty advisor for the Real Estate Club at Iona and the inaugural faculty advisor to the South Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures Club. He is also an advisor to the Finance Club.
