Two original sculptures were recently unveiled in downtown New Rochelle by Charles Fazzino, a 3D pop artist, and his daughter Heather Fazzino, along with the Municipal Arts Commission and other city officials.
The two pieces are seven feet high and weigh 100lb. The letters ‘NRNY’ are on the 3D pop-art pieces, serving as a way to merge the past and present of New Rochelle, and celebrating the redevelopment initiative costing $4bn.
Charles Fazzino commented that he and his daughter are excited about contributing these original pieces to the art scene in New Rochelle. Part of an effort to transform the city, they represent both the history of the city and its optimistic future, and Mr. Fazzino says they are important to his family as their art studio is located in the city.
Charles created the part of the sculptures that reflect the history of the city with the inclusion of Norman Rockwell, an iconic American artist, and homegrown characters, such as Woody Woodpecker and Mighty Mouse. The more modern part of the sculptures was created by Heather, using an edgy street art style that reflects the creative future of the city.
