Juried exhibition to be sponsored by the New Rochelle art association

The New Rochelle Art Association will be holding its Open Juried Exhibition for the 103rd year later this month at the New Rochelle Public Library. Original works done in watercolor, oil and acrylic, pastels, photography, and other media will be featured at the exhibition.

A free public reception in association with Arts Fest will be held next month at which cash awards of $2,500 and other awards of art-related materials will be presented. There will be live music by the Brazilwood Quartet and refreshments.

The New Rochelle Art Association was founded in 1912 to promote the interest of arts in the community and set educational standards for the fine arts. Its members have included many sculptors, illustrators, and painters who are known around the world.

Its first annual juried show celebrated the opening of the new library in the community and included 140 entries, among which were illustrators Norman Rockwell and Joseph C. Leyendecker; painters A.G. Heaton and Remington Schuyler; and sculptor Robert Aitkin.

The exhibition will run from Saturday, September 15 through Monday, October 29. The reception will be held from 5:15 pm to 7:15 pm on Saturday, October 20 in the lobby of the library.

Banner printing companies can be used to create displays throughout the city so that residents will become aware of such special events and artistic endeavors.
