The first chief operating officer (COO) at Iona College in New Rochelle will take his position this month.
Kevin J. Curnin, partner at the national law firm of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, is an attorney who has won many awards and is a well-renowned speaker. He is the founding attorney of the Public Service Project, which provides pro bono services and serves as his firm’s commitment to serving the public.
As COO, Curnin will oversee the operations of legal services, facilities, human resources, campus safety, athletics, and Title IX. He will also be the chief advisor to the president and lead major strategic initiatives. Announcements of such appointment are often made known throughout a community with poster printing.
Chair of the Board of Trustees, Patrick Dunican, Jr. Esquire, said that this new role of chief operating officer will give Iona the freedom to choose someone with the commitment and vision to build an organization dedicated to the common good, and widely acclaimed across the country. Dunican added that the distinguished background of Curnin is indicative of the quality of talent of faculty, staff, and students that Iona will be able to attract.
Curnin earned a JD (juris doctorate) from Fordham University School of Law and a master of arts degree in Irish Literature from University College Dublin.
