A medical linen and uniform services business, Unitex is family owned and operated. The scholarship will offer financial help to students at Iona studying a Master of Science degree in nursing healthcare organizational leadership.

Michael Potack, chairman of Unitex, who has toured the new Kelly Center for Health Sciences and met with several key staff members, expressed his pride in focusing his philanthropy and attention on this degree program. He said his goal is to ensure the next generation of healthcare leaders is well equipped address the many challenges in the healthcare landscape which is rapidly evolving. He added that it is important to have healthcare administrators and skilled nurses who can effectively manage these many changes.
The associate dean and director of nursing of the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences at Iona, Dr. Shery Watson, said:
“The Unitex Scholarship plays a crucial role in addressing the financial barriers potential students often face and enhances the diversity and quality of future healthcare leaders.”
Watson added that this scholarship will provide the resources that these students need to be successful and create a workforce that is prepared for the future.
