The Best Friends Awards Reception, which is held annually by the Friends of Westchester County Parks, is coming up at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.
According to the Chairperson of the Friends of Westchester County Parks, Joanne Fernandez, the event enables the group not only to highlight the efforts of the honorees, but to recognize the programs which the Friends have funded to maintain and grow the 50 parks in the County. The mission of the Friends of Westchester County Parks is to encourage investment in the 18,000 acres of trails, open space, and parks in Westchester County.
The ‘2015 Best Friend’ award will be given to Westchester Medical Center for its support of the inaugural Winter Wonderland and their over commitment to the park system.
The award for ‘2015 Best Green Friend’ will be given to REI, for its commitment to outdoor recreation for people of all ages, fitness, and ongoing support of conservation efforts.
Recipient of the ‘2015 Best Volunteer Friend’ will be Robert DelTorto for his many years of service to the Westchester County Parks, and the ‘2015 Best Business Friend’ is the Business Council of Westchester’s Rising Stars Alumni, which has encouraged businesses and professionals to reside in Westchester County because of its parks and open spaces.
