A founding dean has been named for the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences at Iona College in New Rochelle.
Announcements of such appointments are often made known throughout a college community with poster printing.
Kavita R. Dhanwada, Ph.D., who has been the founding dean of the Borra College of Health Sciences at Dominican University, has the experience to develop this premier school at the college which partners with the highest ranking hospital in New York.
The NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences is set to be located on Bronxville on a new campus that spans 28 acres. It should be a model for a collaborative effort between health care and private education and offer access to full-time positions and clinical placements.
Her experience has centered on promoting education of an interprofessional nature that uses experiential learning to grow practical knowledge. She has also worked with faculty to develop many academic programs and has worked with nursing faculty to create online programs for degree completion.
Seemus Carey, Ph.D., president of Iona College, expressed pride in welcoming Dr Dhanwada as committed, determined, and forward-thinking leader to play a major role in developing this new school. Dr. Carey added that she has a track record of distinguished leadership that will enhance the experience for the students, faculty, and staff at the college.
