Iona College in New Rochelle now has an updated Hynes Athletic Center. The redesign of the center which is the home court for volleyball and basketball at the college was made possible by a gift from Edward F. Arrigoni, class of 1956 and a former athlete at the college.
Such colleges often turn to banner printing to make such spaces known throughout the campus and surrounding community.
The redesign is innovative and includes improvements such as seating around all four sides of the court to enhance the experience of the games for both the fans and the student-athletes. Other features of the improvements are a new playing surface, enhanced sound and lighting, LED scoreboards, and efforts to support the ESPN School Productions of the college.
The plaques in the Hall of Fame were remade in a more modern state-of-the-art platform as digital video boards to make them more visually appealing. The Hall of Fame itself was renamed the Arrigoni Hall of Fame to recognize the generosity of Arrigoni and to recognize the achievements of student-athletes throughout the history of the college.
Matt Glovaski, Director of Athletics, expressed his gratitude to Arrigoni for his support in enabling such a transformation of the athletics center. The faculty, staff, coaches, and current and future student-athletes will all reap benefits from this new facility.
