College in New Rochelle to award women of achievement

Iona College in New Rochelle will be holding is annual Trustees Scholarship Award Gala next month in New York City.

The event is celebrating 50 years of women at the college as in the fall of 1969, female students were welcomed into the student body. The traditionally male institution was immediately changed as women established competitive softball and basketball teams, launched sororities, and became leaders of clubs. They now represent 53 percent of the student body.

The evening will feature recognition of women who have made outstanding contributions to the community and in their careers. Among the award recipients of the Iona College Women of Achievement for 2020 are Dr. Ingrid N. Thompson-Sellers, Ph.D., 1995 MS, President of South Georgia State College; Theresa A. Gottlieb, Esq., class of 1978, Senior Trial Attorney, Bronx District Attorney's Office; and Cathy L. Cogan-Kelly class of 1981, Senior Director, Global HR Operations, PepsiCo.

Events such as these are advertised with flyer printing in order to promote their fundraising efforts for the students at such colleges.

Entertainment will be provided by Chris Brown from the Class of 1978 and The Bookends Band will a special performance by Grammy Award winner and alumna Eileen A. Ivers, from the class of 1987. The Gala will be held at Cipriani 42nd Street on April 3 serving cocktails at 7:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 8:00p.m.
