Female students were welcomed as part of the full-time student body at Iona College in New Rochelle 50 years ago this fall, and the college is celebrating this historic moment with a year-long celebration. The festivities will begin next month and end in May 2020.
There will be a special kick-off event, featuring tours of the campus that highlight the changes that have occurred over the years since the college was transformed from a traditionally male institution. The new president, Seamus Carey, Ph.D., and his wife, Noreen, and female students some of the organizations and clubs at the college will be at a reception for alumni. Titled “A Walk Down Memory Lane,” the complimentary event will feature food stations with favorite culinary delights of the past and a wine tasting hosted by Vintage Wine Estates and Anne Marie Harrison, class of 1980. Iona’s trailblazer alumnae from the classes of 1973-1978 will also be recognized.
Flyer printing can be used for listing other activities that are planned for such a celebration.
Various campus organizations, the School of Arts and Sciences, and the LaPenta School of Business will be hosting exhibitions, special events, and lectures. These programs will focus on women and how they have contributed to the college and the community.
The kick-off celebration is scheduled for Saturday September 21 at 3:00 p.m.
