Barnes & Noble to expand in downtown New Rochelle

Barnes & Noble College and Monroe College recently announced a partnership to open a bookstore in downtown New Rochelle for the entire community.

The bookstore will be 9,000 square feet in size and offer an area for community events, and outside public seating, with bistro tables and chairs. School supplies, textbooks and Apparel branded for Monroe College will be available at the new bookstore as well as traditional Books for the general public. There will be a café serving coffee from Starbucks and it will be open early for rush-hour commuters.

According to the executive vice president of Monroe College, Marc Jerome, the expanded bookstore will serve as a vibrant space for the students and the community. People will be able to purchase Books, meet each other in the public spaces, and on occasion enjoy performances from local artists.

Mayor Noam Bramson added his welcome of Barnes & Noble College to the downtown area as it will help to revitalize the downtown and contribute to the city’s efforts in economic development. He applauded Monroe College for taking the initiative in this endeavor.

The bookstore is expected to open sometime in the fall and, no doubt, the two entities are working together to create Flyers with more information about the amenities at the store and details regarding a more specific opening date.
