CCA programs give communities the opportunity to come together and purchase energy at bulk rates. Allowing several residential users to be grouped means users can benefit from scaled economies, and gives governments a chance to save more money per account holder. All residents who were not previously buying energy from an Energy Service Provider are automatically enrolled in the program. If residents wish to opt-out, they will be given instructions on how to do so and can do it whenever they wish. Any bills sent out will likely feature the Letterheads of the issuing organization.
The program is expected to start for residents and small business accounts in the November billing cycle. This latest achievement for the village, just a few miles to the west of New City, comes right after Wesley Hills became the first municipality in Rockland County to implement a CCA used for electricity in 2019 and implemented a Community Solar Program back in March.
