Dr. Lester Edgardo Sandres Rápalo has been appointed as the eighth president of Rockland Community College.
Starting this Saturday, July 1st, Dr. Rápalo will assume the presidency of RCC, succeeding Dr. Michael Baston after a comprehensive search process that included campus tours, multiple interviews, and town hall meetings. His appointment has been approved by both the State University of New York and the RCC Board of Trustees. The campus is located a few miles west of New City.
The national search was initiated in September last year. The Presidential Search Advisory Committee, consisting of 32 members and aided by search company Isaacson Miller, received applications from a wide pool of candidates and identified four exceptional finalists. All finalists visited the college's campus in early March where they engaged with the students, staff, faculty, and the Board of Trustees. Feedback from the committee and town hall meetings was taken into account in the Board's decision. People taking on new executive roles could benefit from business card printing.
The board put out a statement on Dr. Rápalo’s appointment that cited his academic background, community outreach involvement, and efforts in Hispanic-themed programs as the standout reasons why he was the best candidate.
With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Rápalo has successfully united diverse stakeholders to deliver high-quality education that is accessible to all community members.
