LinkedIn Learning class to happen in New City

The New City Library will be hosting a class that will teach its participants what the online course site LinkedIn Learning is and how it can be used. The class will be taught as a webinar.

LinkedIn Learning is an e-learning website that was originally known as Lynda.com, a site that was created by Lynda Weinmann in 1995. In 2015, it was bought by the career-building website LinkedIn, which allows business owners to network online and complement their in-person efforts like exchanging Business Cards.

Much like its predecessor, the site still offers more than 16,000 professional courses that can help individuals advance in their careers. Courses for this site are categorized into the three areas - technology, business and creativity - and include such topics as Excel, Python, Management, and Animation.

Prospective users of the service must first create a LinkedIn account if they do not have one already. Then they are allowed a free month to access all of the courseware before paying a subscription fee of $29.99 monthly or $239.88 annually for further use. All courses are run directly through the website 24/7 and most offer certificates upon completion.

The class will take place online on Wednesday, February 9, from 11:00 am - 11:45 am. Those interested must register on the New City Library’s website before the time of the class.
