The New City Library will be hosting a performance by the band The Swedish Meatballs next month. The group will be presenting an array of music from different corners of the world.
The Swedish Meatballs consists primarily of founding member, Ellen Lindstrom, who honors her background as a second-generation Scandinavian-American by playing the traditional music of her ancestors on her accordion. In addition to Scandinavian music, she draws upon influences from other parts of Europe, including music from Italy and Germany. Lindstrom is usually accompanied by other musical artists including “Lively Larry” Ballow on the horns, “Dynamic Dave” Birchard on the drums, “Strumming Sallie” D’Amico on the rhythm guitar, and “Jamming Joe” Negri on the trumpet.
The band has played in a multitude of locations and events throughout Northeast America through the years, and has appeared at festivals such as the Leif Ericson Day Celebration, Viking Fest, and various Swedish- and Scandinavian-themed events. They have performed for organizations such as the Danish Brotherhood and Lutheran Social Services of New York.
The event will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. It will take place in the meeting room of the New City Library, which is located at 220 Main Street. More information can be found to the right of the graphic design on the library’s event listing page.
