Families from New City can spend a night under the stars thanks to a program being sponsored and overseen by Clarkstown Parks Board & Recreation Commission.
The Overnight Family Campout is set up with several of the cherished camping activities, and a campfire too.
Attendees will have to bring their own camping equipment such as sleeping Bags and tents. Pop-up trailers are not allowed. Families are also allowed to fish on the lake although individuals will be responsible for getting their own fishing licenses. Additional information about fishing can be obtained from the Town Clerk’s Office.
Pandemic safety guidelines will also be enforced, meaning the tents must be adequately spaced and people are advised to wear makes whenever they are outside of their tents.
Registration for the campout is open now at the Administration Building located at 31 Zukor Road in New City. Online registrations can be made through CommunityPass Accounts. A CommunityPass account is required for online registrations. When registration is completed, patrons should pass by the Recreation and Parks Office to prove their residency. Homeowners should bring their Driver’s Licenses and renters must provide three separate proof of residency documents, which might come with company Letterheads on them.
The campout starts on October 2 at 4:00 pm and runs through until October 3 at 10:00 am. It will be at Congers Lake Memorial Park.
