The state primary is scheduled for 23rd June. People from New City can choose between voting in person or using mailed-in ballots thanks to an executive order that came from Governor Andrew Cuomo. Ballots often feature the official letterhead of the election commission.
Instructions on how to use mail-in ballots are being sent to eligible voters in the mail. While the officials are sending out the applications for absentee voting, residents will also receive different ballots from their school districts to vote on school board elections and budgets.
The Rockland Legislature received almost $400,000 from federal agencies to help it Print and mail applications for absentee voting to the 150,000 people eligible to vote in Rockland. The organization also okayed the use of $100,000, which will come from the county’s coffers. Most of that money will go to Fort Orange Press, which is the official ballot vendor.
Rockland Democratic Elections Commissioner, Kristen Stavisky, said:
“We have a limit approved by the Legislature. We expect to have to print more ballots because of increased absentees. This will be the limit to ensure we are in compliance.”
The positions up for grabs in the June primaries include Senate seats to represent Rockland and Westchester as well as congressional seats for both counties.
