A touring company will be taking people on a combined walking and bus tour of the West Point Campus.
A trained guide will share insights into the U.S. Military Academy's historic significance, including its involvement in the Revolutionary War and other notable conflicts. Graduates who played pivotal roles in shaping the nation will also be highlighted.
The tour includes stops at Trophy Point, offering a view of the Hudson River, as well as the Plain. If available, additional attractions like the main Cadet Chapel featuring exquisite stained glass windows, Michie Stadium's Blaike Field and the Holleder Center, the American Soldier Statue, and the Air Flight Memorials might also be covered.
After the tour, guests will partake in a luncheon held at MacArthur's Riverview Restaurant, situated within the Thayer Hotel. The hotel has been a national treasure ever since its establishment in 1926 and has welcomed former global dignitaries, U.S. presidents, and other notable personalities. For Historical Society of Rockland County (HSRC) members, the cost is $119 per person, while non-members will be charged $129 per person. This fee covers admissions, tour expenses, gratuities, and lunch at the Thayer Hotel.
Departure from the HSRC’s parking lot at 20 Zukor Road in New City takes place at 9:45 AM on September 20, with the return to HSRC scheduled for about 3:30 PM, regardless of weather conditions.
