Broadway legend visits Rockland

Patrons are invited to be entertained by “An Evening with Lillias White” as she embarks on a musical retelling of a life and career that started in Brooklyn and took her to Broadway.

Lillian White’s work is recognized internationally on screen and on stage. She won a TONY Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical thanks to her stellar performance when she appeared in a musical called "The Life." Another TONY Award was almost hers when she was nominated for her performance in Fela! Some of the other musicals she has appeared in include Once on This Island, Carrie, Cats, Dreamgirls and Barnum. Poster printing is an effective way of promoting musicals.

A DAYTIME EMMY Award is also on White’s list of achievements. White won this award for playing Lillian Edwards in Sesame Street. Fans of animated movies will recognize her voice acting in Disney’s Hercules were she played the lead muse named Calliope. Critics were very pleased with her performance in South Pacific and it was even broadcasted on PBS’ Great Performances. The most recent works to come from Lillian White include her starring role in CHICAGO on Broadway towards the end of 2021 and an off-Broadway show named Tariq Trotter’s Black No More which opened early in 2022.

Fans living in New City who would like to see one of her performances in person can find her at the Rockland Community College’s Culture Arts Theatre in Suffern on May 7th. The show starts at 6:30 pm.
