Blue Rock School to host tour

The Blue Rock School in West Nyack near New City is putting on an open day in January.

The school has classes all the way from kindergarten to eighth grade. Parents who are interested in finding a new school for their children are invited to visit the school, to meet with the faculty, check out the facilities, and find out if Blue Rock School is the right fit for their kids. Poster printing is sometimes used at such open days to welcome people.

Blue Rock School is the only school in the Lower Hudson Valley that is independent and progressive. The school is committed to fostering an environment that supports a non-elitist community full of students who come from diverse cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. Allowing students to interact with people from different backgrounds teaches them how to interact with others and understand each other even though they have different upbringings. The Blue Rock School believes that educating children in this manner is vital for raising a generation that is tolerant of other beliefs.

The curriculum at this school is based on discovery and intuition-based learning. The reading environment is free of tests and grades so that the children are able to foster their curious minds and uncover parts of their characters that might otherwise have been repressed.

The campus tour will be held on January 25 at 110 Demarest Mill Road and it starts at 10 am. Spaces are limited therefore registering advance by calling 845-535-3353.
