The Shops at Nanuet, which opened about a year ago, are seeing additional construction and more businesses opening between now and the beginning of 2015. Recent additions have been China Bistro at The Shops from PF Chang and Patsy’s Pizza.
According to Stephen Degroat, Finance Commissioner for Rockland County, The Shops have been successful increasing the revenue of sales taxes combined with a rise in the sale of automobiles.
The Shops are 750,000 square in size, offering mixed-use shopping, and have become one of the major shopping destinations in the County. This, combined with the Palisades Center close by in West Nyack, has become a source for millions of dollars in tax revenue from the thousands of visitors that come very year. This is despite the fact that nearby counties in New Jersey either have exemptions on some items or no sales tax at all, while shoppers in Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam counties pay a sales tax on all items.
The general manager of the Shops, Ryan Hidalgo, said that retails stores in general face other types of competition such as television, the Internet, and playing video games.
He added that over half of the retailers in The Shops are unique to the local market. He may be turning to flyer printing to create Flyers that generate enthusiasm for shoppers as place where they want to spend their leisure time.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
