Redevelopment to take place at Nanuet shopping center
Metropolitan Realty Associates (MRA) and Angelo Gordon & Co. have recently entered into a joint venture to redevelop what was once the Macy’s department store at The Shops at Nanuet.
The joint venture was awarded a $23m three-year acquisition and construction loan by Amherst Capital Management to modernize the building.
There will be a grand new two-story lobby as part of the redevelopment as well as updates to the exits and entrances, improved escalators and elevators, and a mechanical system that can be controlled by the tenants. External improvements include a dog-friendly outdoor park, branding for the tenants, and other additions that will enhance the shopping experience. New tenants that take up the remaining 117,000 square feet of space in the property will have exterior signage designed specifically for them.

MRA has said that a 10-year lease to occupy just over 101,000 square feet at the redeveloped property has been signed by At Home, a home décor superstore. The lease begins in the first quarter of 2020. CEO of MRA, Joseph Farkas, commented that this redevelopment demonstrates the continued viability of a town that ranks highly in the state in terms of places to live.
