Vincent’s Village, an affordable housing project for those 55 years of age and older, has now opened in Nanuet.
The project, which cost $42m, consists of three buildings. There are 81 units with one bedroom and 12 units with two bedrooms. In addition there are 35 units that have access to supportive services and rental subsidies which are funded by the New York State Department of Health and offered through the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative.
The development also has two buildings with amenities that include a laundry room, community rooms, a fitness room, and Vinny’s Café, which is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity Housing Development Corporation and is a custom designed communal space. All residents will have access to support services that include counseling, case management, care coordination, health monitoring, and social activities. Flyer printing is often used to highlight such special services for residents and how to access them.
The project is close to public transportation including the Pascack Valley Line of New Jersey Transit and less than a half-mile of shopping and other services along Route 59. TRIPS, the paratransit service of the county, and Rockland County Mini-Trans will provide local transportation for residents.
Energy efficient features at Vincent’s Village include Energy Star-rated appliances; high-efficiency heating, and ventilation and cooling equipment. The United States Green Building Council has given it a Gold Certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
