A Class A Truck Driver (CDL) training course has been inaugurated by Rockland Community College (RCC) in Suffern. It includes a micro-credential for Entrepreneurship. Residents of nearby Nanuet may be interested in pursuing such programs.
The program prepares students for Class-A Tractor-Trailer certification and helps them with matters like writing a résumé, preparing for an interview, and job placement. Among the topics covered in the classes are the inspection and operation of tractor trailers, defensive driving, vehicle inspections, motor carrier safety regulations, general maintenance procedures, and cargo handlings. Students must have a valid New York State Driver’s License and be at least 18 years old. Brochure printing is an ideal medium for providing more information about such new programs.
Dean of Career and Professional Development at RCC, Dr. Jean Leandre, said that the CDL program is one of many new shorter-term programs offered at the college that ensure graduates can find jobs where salaries begin at over $40,000, with average salaries of $55,000.
There will be two upcoming sessions of the program, with one that runs from Monday through Thursday and takes place from June 6 to 30. The other is on weekends from July 9 to August 28. Both sessions have classes from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. The cost for the program is $5,500 with grant opportunities available.
