An open house will be held by the Nanuet Fire Department to recruit residents who are 16 years of age and older.
This is so they can learn about volunteer firefighting and how to serve the community. The Nanuet Fire Department, like many other departments in Rockland County, needs personnel in the face of increased call volume and declining membership. The department is looking to increase the number of members of its team so that it can provide the best level of protection for its town residents.
The open house will be held in conjunction with other departments in the county to raise awareness about the need in the department, and to highlight the many rewards of being a volunteer for the department. There will be tours of the equipment and the fire station, and visitors will be able to try on gear. Information will be provided, and questions will be answered by the many firefighters on hand about what is needed to become a volunteer.
Brochure printing is a good way to provide information so that interested residents have printed material they can take home with them from these events.
Chief Joseph Pacella has encouraged residents to attend the open house and to learn more about the fire department and its service.
The open house will be held at the Nanuet Fire Department on Old Middletown Road from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, April 13.
