Nanuet experiences growth in building projects
A development boom is currently taking place in Nanuet.
Local print shops are often used to create flyers and other printed materials with updates and details about such developments.
Major improvements are evident along Route 59. The Thruway Plaza on Route 59 has been demolished to make possible the construction of a hotel, which will be the focus of the Gateway Commons of Nanuet. The hotel will be a Holiday Inn with 123 rooms and five stories tall. It will feature a QuickChek system that is being developed by the Goldstein, Yassky, and Kirchner families. It is expected to open in 2023.
The owner of Rockland Plaza, just one mile east on Route 59, having just completed a Chipotle and a Shake Shack, is looking to add restaurants and a grocery store to the shopping center. The Modell’s which is vacant would be demolished to make way for the grocery store, the restaurants, and a bank. In addition, the building that houses Petco and Barnes and Noble will be expanded. It is expected that that the grocery/convenience store and a new Dunkin’ Donuts with a drive-thru will open by the end of this year.
The second floor of the Macy’s building in The Shops at Nanuet will become a film production facility. Simon Property Group, owner of The Shops, is thinking about replacing the Sear’s building with housing.
