Contributions from residents, businesses, and patients has enabled the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation to distribute $284,400 to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern to enhance various health services and programs.
Residents from Nanuet, Rockland, and Orange County use this centrally located hospital for many of their health needs.
Among other equipment, a new monitor with high-resolution capabilities has been put in place at the imaging center for women, and will improve the efficiency, accuracy, and speed in identifying abnormalities in breast tissue.
More highly advanced equipment, which will help to restore the blood flow to a patient’s heart more quickly, has been installed in the Cardiac Care Unit. The purchase of a probe for transesophageal echocardiography will enable those in the unit to see high-resolution moving images of a patient’s heart, and the working of their heart’s valves and chambers.
New sleep recline chairs were installed in the Emergency Department so patients and their companions can now rest more comfortably, and additional equipment has been purchased throughout the hospital to improve efficiency and comfort for patients.
The funds were raised through this philanthropic arm of the hospital from the annual Golf and Tennis Classic, Spring Ball, Corks & Forks, and Girls’ Night Out, along with the use of appeals through various Mailing services and other fundraising initiatives.
