An amount of $210,000 will be awarded to Rockland Community College (RCC) for the development and launching of a program in financial coaching.
The idea is to improve the financial health of students and increase their rate of graduation. Students who live in nearby Nanuet will be able to benefit from such programs.
This program was developed by Westchester Community College and the National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE), and was made possible by an investment of $2.5m from JPMorgan Chase.
RCC will receive training guidance; technical assistance and individualized coaching, and help with building a successful long-term program. The team from NCWE will also help the college to develop a long-term business plan to so that financial wellness is embedded into its budget and strategic plans, to support the sustainability of the initiative. More information about such programs and their benefits for students is made possible with brochure printing.
Executive director of global philanthropy at JPMorgan Chase, Jeanique Druses, said that financial coaching helps students to change their behavior and empower them by connecting them to resources that enable personal, career, and academic achievement. Druses added that the college knows how to help students who face challenges in their ability to graduate and finding employment, so the program will enable the college to build on this ability and help students to achieve economic mobility.
