What's Happening in Nanuet, NY…

Founding members recognized for accomplishments

The Nanuet Chamber of Commerce recently presented Foundation Leadership Awards to Susan Farese and Risa Hoag, who are founders of the organization and have been actively involved in it since it began in May 2012.

Hoag and Farese were congratulated by George Hoehmann, Supervisor of Clarkstown, and members of the Town Council, Adrienne Carey, Frank Borelli, and John Noto.

Hoag had met with and Kim Tran, who was then the Nanuet Patch editor, and Hoehmann in 2011, then a town councilman, for exploratory discussions to start up the Chamber again. Hoag had served as Vice President for the original Nanuet Chamber of Commerce in 1996, and Farese also played significant roles in the organization from its onset.

Farese has worked with officials from Clarkstown and has been able to undertake several initiatives. These have included the instalment of new wooden trash containers and the purchase and fitting of new holiday lighting on Main Street. Several of the Chamber’s events, such as the Halloween Spooktacular and the Annual Street Fair in June, have been headed up by Farese.

The Chamber might benefit from the assistance of a local print company to advertise its many other accomplishments, including a yearly health fair and the awarding of two $1,000 scholarships, by means of posters, banners, and other colorful items created by local printing companies.
