Chick-fil-A, known for its signature Chicken Sandwich and hospitality, is looking to open its first location in Rockland County.
The restaurant chain is working with the land use boards in Clarkstown on its application to gain the needed approvals to open a location on Route 59 in Nanuet. Banner printing is often used at such sites to announce the opening of any new establishments.
This would be the largest of its locations in the Northeast, including outside grounds and pickup lanes. George Hoehmann, Town Supervisor, said that this is a project the town has been working on for many years.
Hoehmann said that the restaurant itself would be the same size as all others in the chain but there would be multiple turning lanes to alleviate the build-up of traffic. He added that there would be two lanes—one for ordering food and then another for picking it up, which will avoid the bottlenecks sometimes seen at other fast food locations.
He said the chain and the town have been working together to create a workable design. He expressed his excitement about the restaurant, noting that the area from Route 304 (near the border with Spring Valley) to Route 59 has a great deal of development going on in terms of restaurants and retail.
The Chick-fil-A is scheduled to open in mid-to-late 2024.
