Nanuet Senior High School has been designated by the United States Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2022 for the second time in six years.
The school was recognized as an “Exemplary High Performing School” in accordance with performance measurements on assessments against norms across the country. It is among the 297 private and public elementary, middle, and high schools the Department recognized this year for overall academic excellence. Announcements of such achievements can be made known throughout the school and community with poster printing.
Dr. Kevin McCahill, superintendent of schools, expressed his honor in being selected again for this award. He said that this award recognizes the passion, dedication, and demanding work that the administrators, teachers, students, and their families as well as the community put into the school every day.
Dr. Lily DeGraw, assistant principal of the high school, accompanied principal Michael Mahoney to Washington, D.C. to accept the award. Dr. DeGraw helped to draft and complete the application for the Blue Ribbon Award.
Miguel Cardona, United States Secretary of Education, applauded all the honorees for the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award this year for creating welcoming and vibrant school communities that enable students to learn, grow, and reach their potential. He added that these schools have gone above and beyond to meet the social, mental health, emotional, and academic needs of their students.
