The All Within My Hands (AWMH) Foundation of Metallica has awarded Rockland Community College (RCC) a grant of $25,000.
The foundation was founded by the band in 1981 and is an extension of the Metallica Scholars Initiative, a program that supports workforce education across the United States. The band is on a tour of two years to promote their latest album.
RCC also received a grant from AWMH in 2022 of $100,000, which was used to subsidize tuition for students enrolled in the training program for CDL Class A Commercial Driver. These new funds will be used for scholarships in the CDL program and to expand opportunities in the manufacturing workforce development programs of RCC. These can be of great benefit to students in nearby Nanuet who may attend the college.

The Metallica Scholars Initiative was started in 2019 and now supports over 25 areas of study in many colleges across the country. The initiative now includes courses in engineering, healthcare, and construction. Metallica Scholars are often non-traditional students, such as first-generation college students and the partnership between the American Association of Community Colleges and AWMH helps to make education affordable and accessible in the community college system and to bridge the talent gap in the American workforce.
