Next week, the Federated Conservationists of Westchester County and Pace University’s Center for Environmental Legal Studies will be holding a one-day conference on how climate change impacts Westchester County.
The event will take place at the New York State Judicial Institute on the campus of Pace Law School in White Plains, just east of Nanuet.
Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig of NASA and Professor Michael Gerrard from the Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia Law School will be the keynote speakers, and will talk about the threats to climate change in Westchester County. The pair will go on to discuss strategies and solutions that municipalities can use to address those dangers.
A morning session will be on best practices, moderated by Nina Orville, Executive Director of SWEAC, with panelists from representatives of Montclair and the NYSDEC Office of Climate Change.
An afternoon session will be on adaptation and mitigation, moderated by Professor Nicholas Robinson from the Pace Center for Environmental and Legal Studies. Panelists include John Nolon from the Pace Land Use Law Center for Sustainable Development and Professor Karl Rabago, who represents Pace Energy and Climate Center.
