Melville courses dive into technology

The organization SeniorNet will be holding multiple technology-related courses in January to help people in Melville better understand modern devices.

People who are interested in learning how to use their mobile devices and tablets properly can attend a few virtual workshops organized by SeniorNet. The presentations will cover many technology-related topics, including which apps to download onto an iPad, how to effectively utilize Android phones, and using smartphones to take photographs. The webinars will use in-depth demonstrations to help educate viewers.

SeniorNet was originally formed in 1986 as a result of the Markle Foundation’s research project on how computers and telecommunications can improve the lives of the elderly. It has grown into a non-profit group dedicated to teaching those who are 50 and older about technology. The organization creates various instructional aids for seniors and has over 150 beginners’ and advanced courses. Programs such as this can use brochure printing to give people more information about the classes.

The iPad application course will be held on Monday, January 11, while the photography class and Android phone lesson will be held on Wednesday, January 13. Each event is free for people to join, though participants must register for the webinars. Registration for the activities will open in January. Those interested in viewing other webinars from SeniorNet can see upcoming events on the website.
