The Women Of Melville Empowerment Network of the Melville Chamber of Commerce are hosting a program on estate planning next month.
Titled “Not Your Mother’s Estate Plan,” the program will explain why one-size fits all, traditional planning is often not sufficient and what should be included in modern estate planning. Melissa Negrin-Wiener will discuss how planning that is proactive and thoughtful can help families and individuals maintain control, protect their wishes, and avoid unnecessary stress in the future, especially when transitions, incapacity, or illness occur in life.
Outcomes to be expected from this program will include practical steps to create or update a plan suitable to one’s current life; common gaps in planning that lead to confusion, delays, or involvement in court; how to plan for incapacity and ensure that someone can step in if needed; the difference between trusts and wills; and why estate plans that are outdated may no longer reflect the realities of today.
A light breakfast will be served, and time will be available for networking. Such events can benefit from poster printing to promote them throughout a town and neighboring communities.
The mission of the Women Of Melville Empowerment Network is to open doors, share expertise, and provide access to members and resources of the Chamber.
This program will be on Wednesday March 11 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Cona Elder Law on Broadhollow Road in Melville.
