Property purchased in Melville to build hospital

Two office properties in Melville will be purchased by NYU Langone Health.

The buildings at One and Two Huntington Quadrangle are on 45 acres of land and span a total of 765,000 square feet. The plan is to build a hospital on the combined site which will become a flagship hospital on Long Island that will include a teaching hospital, medical education, and a research facility.

Such sites often turn to banner printing to inform residents of such projects and their benefits for a community.

NYU Langone has been looking to expand its footprint on Long Island for some time. In May 2023, the health system planned to build a medical center at Nassau County Community College on its on the Uniondale campus but that fell through. Then it looked to purchase the Melville headquarters of Canon USA but that also never happened.

Officials from the town of Huntington believe that a new hospital will have a positive impact on the community, bringing in new jobs and complimenting the projects that are being planned for the district of Melville Town Center. This new site is close to Melville Crossing, a project being developed by Steel Equities based in Bethpage that will replace an office/industrial building with a mixed-use development of retail space and 400 residences.

NYU Langone is represented by CBRE, a commercial real estate development firm. The purchase price of the property is about $135 million.
