Canon promotional night supports missing children charity

Canon U.S.A., Inc., with its headquarters in Melville, recently hosted its Promotional Night, which it holds every year at Yankee Stadium to benefit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

During a ceremony before a game between the Yankees and Tampa Bay, Ana Tavares from Canon presented a check for more than $500,000 to John Arnos, NCMEC advisor, and John Walsh, co-founder of NCMEC. This was the amount that Canon has raised so far in 2014 in product and monetary donations for the charity. Most likely, banner printing was used to announce this pre-game ceremony so attendees would become aware of the company’s benevolent efforts.

According to senior director and general manager of corporate communications, Kotaro Fukushima, it was an enjoyable night for the company and the Yankees as it shows what efforts are made to bring home missing children. The company has been supporting NCMEC for over 15 years.

President and CEO, NCMEC, John Ryan, added that Canon has been a dedicated partner with NCMEC, providing both financial and technical support that has reunited families and helped to save lives.

The program is known as Canon4Kids and, over the years, the company has donated more than 2,200 pieces of equipment, which have been given to law enforcement agencies throughout the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
